HomeAid Takes a Bite Out of the Big Apple!
HomeAid was honored by Mutual of America as a Community Partner Award winner in New York City last week.
I and several of my HomeAid colleagues from across the country packed our bags and headed to the city that never sleeps for a special award ceremony hosted by Mutual of America Financial Group. We adapted quickly because we definitely did not sleep a whole lot!
Our Executive Directors from HomeAid Colorado Cindy Bell and from HomeAid Portland Brenda Ketah were determined to see all the NYC sites even though we were only there for about 48 hours. They came very close to achieving their goals.
In just one day, over 35,000 steps and about 15 miles they visited:
· Grand Central Station
· Battery Park
· Hudson River (with a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty)
· St. Patrick’s Cathedral
· Times Square
· Rockefeller Center
· A Broadway Show—Chicago starring Pamela Anderson (It was AMAZING)
Not to mention Central Park and the Empire State Building the following day!
I missed the first four items on that list (plus several miles and thousands of steps), I did however tag along for most of the latter items and I must admit NYC did not disappoint. It is a breathtaking city with gorgeous views, history everywhere you look, and an electric vibe that is very contagious.
We are grateful to Mutual of America for the recognition of HomeAid and the HomeAid WORKS program by selecting us as an Honorable Mention in their Community Partner Awards and for the opportunity to experience New York City.
If you find you need guidance on how to see a lot in a short amount of time and how to make your Fitbit go crazy, I know a couple of people I could connect you with.
